Mantua's Most Majestic (MMM). MMM is a 50-week percussive dance program for up to 100 Mantua youth.
We are recruiting, and getting started is simple: there's no tryout, no experience needed, just a willingness to show up.
Practice runs every Monday and Wednesday, 6–8pm at Miles Mack Playground (732 N 36th St) in West Philly. Ages 12 to 18 welcome.
Drill team teaches the value of personal excellence through the precision of movement, rhythm and percussion. MMM will provide a safe haven, offering mentorship opportunities and positive relationships that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The creative process cultivates a host of life skills important for positive youth development, including:
- Confidence and a positive sense of self from performance
- Discipline and self-control through practice
- Problem solving, critical thinking, and expression through movement creation and refinement
- Determination and persistence from the challenges of choreography and the expectation of performance excellence
- Teamwork and accountability through rehearsal and performance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How are the drill teams or squads organized? Are there different groups based on age or experience?
Mantua's Most Majestic squads are organized by age. In the broader drill community, squads are typically divided into four age groups:
- Pee Wees: Ages 4–9
- Juniors: Ages 10–12
- Intermediates: Ages 13–18
- Open/Elite: Any age
For MMM, participants ages 12–18 will participate in the appropriate squad based on their age.
2. Will Mantua's Most Majestic compete or perform throughout the year? What kinds of performances, events, or opportunities can participants expect?
Yes! Drill team members will have opportunities to compete and perform throughout the year. The regular competition season runs from September through June, culminating in national championships during the last weekend of June.
During the summer, we will participate primarily in regional exhibitions, including performances at festivals, block parties, and other community events.
3. How does the program progress over the course of the 50 weeks?
This is designed as a 50-week program, giving young people the opportunity to build their skills, confidence, and teamwork over time. Participants will work together through regular practices and prepare for performances and competitions throughout the year.
4. What does being part of a squad look like beyond regular practice?
Being part of Mantua's Most Majestic means more than showing up for practices. Participants will work as a team, prepare for performances and competitions, and have opportunities to represent as a drill team at community events and exhibitions throughout the year. Through that process, young people build discipline, accountability, teamwork, and confidence while being part of a supportive community.
